The Boys' Brigade (BB) was founded by Sir William Alexander Smith on 4th of October 1883, in Glasgow, Scotland. Sir William A. Smith was a Lieutanent at the 1st Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers. He then came up with an idea of introducing the form of displinary and interactive teachings to the Sunday School. Therefore, in 4th October 1883, the official 1st Boys’ Brigade unit (1st Glasgow Company) was formed which attracted a lot of boys to join.
Little that you know, The Boys’ Brigade remains as the oldest voluntary uniformed youth movement in the world. You can find BB in countries like the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Macau, Africa, Malaysia, Singapore and many more. In Malaysia, it is recognized and supported by the Malaysia's Ministry of Education and The Youth and Sports Ministry.
The advancement of Christ’s kingdom among members and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian character.

As part of The Boys' Brigade, it is the Council objective to build character among the youths to become leaders of tomorrow, in accordance to the BB Object. The Kuala Lumpur Council was formed in the later part of 2002 as part of BBMs initiative to streamline National administration, from the former District Councils of which KL was then part of the Central District. Formerly, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor was a single entity known as the Kuala Lumpur Battalion. Currently, the Kuala Lumpur Council comprises of twelve Kuala Lumpur companies and two Seremban companies.
